Myers Flat Fire

UPDATE 11:10 P.M.: Marty Hobbs from Cal Fire says that the fire was contained before 2 P.M. (It was called in a little before 11 A.M.) Engines from Cal Fire and Myers Flat were able to pull up onto the east side of the Eel and lay hose across the river to fight the fire on the west side.  A bulldozer was used to clear area for the engines to get back from the fire. A helicopter was also used to fight the fire.

Hobbs says the fire was human caused but still under investigation.

UPDATE 11:21 A.M.:  Scanner traffic says approximately 1/4 acre fire in thick canopy (the plane can’t see the bottom of the fire though).  The engines are making good access across the river (one reason to be glad the river is low there.) The fire is now being called the Boy Scout Incident.

Original post—————-

Scanner traffic reports a fire in the Myers Flat area. Reportedly a well-established fire across the river.  “The only way to get access to this is to cross the river on foot.”

LoCO will update with more information as soon as possible.
