Body Found in Ocean Near Shelter Cove

Earlier this morning, Brandon Centeno was out trolling for salmon near the Red Whistle Buoy off Shelter Cove when he saw something floating in the water.

“I thought it might be a seal at first,” Centeno told the Outpost via phone. As he got closer he realized it was, in fact, a decomposing body wearing no clothing. Currently he’s waiting out in the ocean waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Sgt. Ernie Stewart with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office confirms that deputies are en route.
