ATV Attempts To Outrace APD–Fails

Arcata Police Dept. Press Release:

On 8/03/2013 at about 10:00 pm, Arcata Police Officers attempted a traffic stop on a four wheel ATV that was driving at a high rate of speed with no lights on Alliance Rd. The driver of the ATV fled from officers, leading them in a pursuit that began on Alliance Rd and ended several blocks away on Maple Lane.

The pursuit reached speeds of about 50 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood and ended when the operator of the ATV, identified as Dennis Andrew Workman (age 23) of Arcata, failed to negotiate a turn and struck a curb, throwing both Workman and a passenger off of the ATV.  An uninjured Workman was quickly taken into custody and the passenger fled on foot and was unable to be located.

Workman was arrested for felony evasion, driving with a suspended license, driving under the influence and violation of probation. He was booked into the Humboldt County Jail.
