Handgun and Marijuana Located During Search

On 7/20/2013, officers from the Arcata Police Department responded to the Super 8 motel to contact Thomas William Strader Jr., age 41, in regards to a felony level warrant for his arrest.  Strader is currently on Post Release Community Service (PRCS) for PC 496(a) – Possession of Stolen property. 

Officers contacted Strader at the motel and he was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant.  During a search of the motel room occupied by Strader per the terms of his probation, a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun was located.  The handgun had been reported stolen in Eureka on 7/06/2013.  Also located was approximately one pound of marijuana and drug paraphernalia associated with the use of methamphetamines. 

Strader was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon in possession of a handgun, PC 496(a) – Possession of stolen property, H&S 11357(c) – Possession of over one ounce of marijuana and H&S 11364.1(a) – Possession of drug paraphernalia.
