Small School Gets Much Needed Funds and a Local Wins Redwood Run Quilt

The tiny Salmon Creek Community School wouldn’t survive without help from folk who live nearby. Every year for the last 15 years, the local Kiwanis and its affiliates have made room for their quilt raffle at the Redwood Run. One of the school’s neighbors, Nancy Branch, not only designs and creates the art piece but then she sends it to April Sprowle of Fortuna to have the incredibly detailed quilting done.

This year the school brought in almost $3400 which will be used to give a raise to the two teachers and buy new computers for the increasing enrollment.

Local Jennie Beebe of Phillipsville (shown above) won the ticket even though she didn’t attend the Redwood Run.  She bought 2 chances when the quilt was displayed in front of the Shop Smart store in Redway.  Though several locals have won over the years, most recent past winners have been from out of the area including the winner from two years ago, a woman from Oregon who needed to have the quilt shipped to her.

The School wishes to thank everyone who helped.
