Taking Your Marijuana for a Walk in Fortuna–Not Recommended

On Monday May 28, 2012 at about 10:15 pm, an officer with the Fortuna Police Department was on patrol when he observed a male subject walking in the area of Riverwalk Drive and 12th Street. As the officer passed the subject, the subject appeared to be trying to hide a large shopping bag behind his person.

The officer contacted the subject and determined that the subject was trying to hide his plastic shopping bag which contained two pounds of Marijuana.

The officer identified the subject as Keon McIntyre (Age 30) of Fortuna and conducted a search of his person. During that search, the officer located a loaded .25 Caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol concealed within McIntyre’s pants along with 46 grams of concentrated cannabis.

Upon examination of the firearm, officers determined that the firearm’s serial number had been removed.

McIntyre was arrested on the following charges:

PC §25850(a) Possession of a loaded firearm in public
PC §25400(a)(2) Possession of a Concealed firearm upon person
PC §23920 Possession of a firearm with a altered serial number
PC §11357(a) Possession of Concentrated Cannabis
HS §11357(c) Possession of Marijuana

McIntyre was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
