A winter storm closed State Route 96 last night just before 1 A.M.  A slide that KIEM says is projected to be partially cleared by 10 A.M. has shut down the route about halfway between Orleans and the 169 intersection. According to Caltrans, the obstruction is 6.6 miles east of the junction of State Route 169 at Slate Creek.

At around 6 this morning, CHP requested flooding signs for the Mad River bridge on State Route 299. The road is still open in both directions but caution should be used.
