Mateel Harvest Ball To Feature Perfect This Friday, November 18th

“Let the wild rumpus begin” with the annual Harvest Ball this Friday, November 18th, at Mateel Community Center! Headlining will be reggae music’s rising star, Perfect, who was one of the hits at this year’s Reggae on the River.

Coming of age in the cool hills of Bamboo, in St. Ann Parish, JA, Greg Rose (aka Perfect) grew up with an appreciation of various musical genres.  He got his start DJ-ing in the sound system, Trend Setter, and it was with this crew that he recorded his first dub plates.  The first tracks that really took off for him were 2004’s Lock Me Up and 2005’s Hand Cart Bwoy. In 2006 Perfect released his debut album, Giddimani, which features many of his early singles in one collection.  His second release, Born Dead With Life, came out in 2008 and has certainly proven to be a milestone for Perfect, with features alongside guests like Gyptian, Chezidek, and Turbulence.  Recognized as one of the most powerful, intriguing, and refreshing voices on today’s reggae/ dancehall scene, Perfect brings a perfect mix of urban style, roots vibes, and straight up soul for a sound that is perfectly Perfect.

Also in the line up for this year’s Harvest Ball will be Bay Area favorites, Luv Fyah and the Reggae Angels, along with Second Nature Sound, a talented collection of local DJs.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets are on sale now at the usual local outlets and online at www.mateel.org for an advance price of $22. Admission at the door will be $25 and current MCC members will receive a $2 discount for either price. For more information visit www.mateel.org or call 923-3368.

UPDATE: SoHum Label GMOs Group is cooking up an irie Caribbean feast for the Mateel’s Harvest Ball on Friday, November 18th. All food served will be organic and free of Genetically Modified Organisms. This is a fundraiser for our local group so that we can do our part to get the GMO labeling initiative on the California Ballot for 2012. Doors open at 8pm and music starts at 9pm. See you at the Ball! Ya Mon!
