Feeding Food For the People–A Benefit for the Best From the Best

Press Release –

What could be better than a benefit by and for the bests! Saturday, October 22nd, the Arcata Playhouse will feature singer-songwriters Josephine Johnson and Chris Parreira, who both tied for Best Solo Performer in the North Coast Journal’s 2011 Best of Humboldt readers’ poll. Josephine Johnson will play a solo set joined by guitarist Andrew Goff. Chris Parreira will also share an acoustic set and later takes the stage with some special guests. Tickets are $10 plus a donation of nonperishable food.  Doors open at 7:15 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m. Proceeds from the evening benefit Food for People, the Food Bank for Humboldt County, voted Best Nonprofit by the North Coast Journal 2011 readers’ poll. Sponsored by the North Coast Journal, this will be an evening of bests—put your best foot forward and come on down to the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 9th Street in Arcata, on Saturday, October 22nd from 8 to 10 p.m. for an evening of outstanding music benefiting a leading cause.

Food for People is designated as the food bank for Humboldt County and currently serves over 12,000 community members each month through its 12 programs. Within the last year, there has been a 45% increase in requests for food assistance in their pantry and they are struggling to keep up with the current need for food assistance in our community.   For more information or to find out how you can help, contact Harriet Pecot, Fund Development Direct at Food for People (707) 445-3166.  Additional information about Food for People can also be found at www.foodforpeople.org.
