Rope Used to Strangle Good Samaritan
On 09-27-2011, approximately 11:00 a.m. , the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office was notified of a robbery which just occurred at Loleta Drive, near U.S. 101. While deputies were responding to the scene they were notified that the victim was being transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital for neck injuries.
A deputy met with the 30 year old male victim at the hospital and the victim told the deputy he was robbed and assaulted by two men. The victim told the deputy just got off a transit bus at US 101 and Loleta Drive, Loleta when he saw a dark blue Ford F-150 pickup truck with its hood up along side Loleta Drive near two large piles of dirt. The two male suspects told the victim their truck broke down. The victim offered to assist the two male suspects with repairing their truck since he had mechanical experience.
After the victim assisted them with repairing their truck , one of the suspects wrapped a rope around the victim’s neck, choking him, while the second suspect rummaged through the victim’s possessions and pants pockets, stealing his prescription medication and wallet. After a brief struggle, the victim and able to free himself from the suspect who was choking him, and both suspects fled in the pickup truck.
Humboldt County Sheriffs Deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers searched the area for the suspects and pickup truck while the victim was being interviewed at the hospital, but were unable to locate them. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
The suspects are described as;
#1 White male, 30’s, 6’ 1” tall, 220 pounds, light brown dread locks past his shoulders, goatee/unshaven. Last seen wearing baggy blue jeans, and an orange or red colored short sleeved T-shirt, dirty old hiking type boots.
#2 White male, late 30’s , 5’9” tall, 170 pounds, thin, short curly black with grey hair, wearing a baseball cap with a flat bill cocked to the side, baggy light blue jeans, grey with white blue or black long sleeved flannel shirt, black boots.
