Extreme Fire Danger in Humboldt Co.
Smoke lightly paints the skies here in So Hum. There have been spot fires throughout the county including out Hwy 36 and up Alderpoint Rd. Today, CalFire announced a Red Flag Warning:
The National Weather Service has issued a weather watch for Humboldt and Del Norte Counties for low daytime humidity and poor nighttime humidity recovery. Wind gust are expected to be 10 to 15 mph in the evening with gusts from 20 to 30 mph expected along higher terrain such as the Bald Hills, Trinity Lake and the west slopes of the Salmon and Siskiyou Mountains.
Cal Fire would like to encourage extreme caution. Make sure your home as a Defensible Space by clearing flammable vegetation from structures.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures will create higher fire growth potential.
For any questions please contact your local fire department or Cal Fire at 707 725-4413.
