McKinleyville Fugitive Who Threatened Bomb Saying "I Won't Go to Prison"…is Going to Prison

The Ukiah Daily Journal reports, that a McKinleyville man, Jason Frick (37) pled “guilty to a felony charge of possessing a destructive device and to being a felon in possession of a firearm, also a felony. Frick also admitted two prior Humboldt County “strike” convictions — one for residential burglary and the second for robbery.”

Last February, Frick, a fugitive from the Humboldt CO. charges, was discovered hiding in a Willits’ residence.  When officers approached, Frick barricaded himself inside. He claimed to have a bomb and fired a shot into the ceiling saying he would not go to prison.

A hostage negotiating team eventually talked him into surrendering on Feb 23. The “residence revealed at least one functional Exploding incendiary device along with materials for others, which had been manufactured by the suspect.” Humboldt Counties Explosive Ordinance Division assisted with defusing the device which was filled with nails and BB’s and explosive material.
