Bear Mauling Ruled Out –It's Murder!

On receiving reports of a possible bear attack, the Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies along with Coastal Medical Personnel rushed last night to the 44000 Block of North Highway 1 North of Westport, CA. Once there, medical personnel and deputies found the victim dead alongside his vehicle. They determined that the victim’s injuries were not consistant with an attack by a bear.
Mendocino County Sheriff Detectives were called in and are conducting an investigation into the death at this time. A forensic necropsy will be conducted on 8-15-2011. The decedent’s name is expected to be officially released on 8-15-2011.

What, exactly, are the homicide statistics for southern Humboldt, and all of Humboldt county? How do they compare with other regions — rural, urban, and suburban?
I’m not sure (I’ll try and find out.) Though to be fair, this murder happened in Mendocino County.
