Kidnappers Headed to Crescent City?

On 08-03-2011, approximately 1000 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a male 44-year-old Willow Creek Resident that told the dispatchers he had been kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint. Deputies responded to the Gambi Hill Trailer Park, Willow Creek and met with the victim who was upset, but uninjured. The victim told the investigating officer he was walking along Highway 299 this morning in Willow Creek near Hodgeson Hill, enroute to catch a bus to Arcata. A White four door Volvo with California Plates pulled over and offered him a ride. The victim told the two males in the Volvo he was heading to Arcata and they agreed to drive him there. They stopped at the Willow Creek Chevron and the victim and suspects got out to buy items. After the victim and suspects got back into the Volvo, the driver pointed a silver handgun at the victim and told him they wanted money. They drove the victim around to several locations and forced the victim to withdraw cash from a ready teller machine. After the suspects obtained several hundred dollars, they dropped the victim off in front of Gambi Hill Trailer park. The suspects made a comment while driving the victim around they were heading to Crescent City and were last seen west bound on Highway 299 from Willow Creek.

The suspects are described as follows:

1. White Male Adult, mid- to late twenties, several tattoos on forearms, wearing a greenish tan T-shirt with a logo on the front, silver wrist watch, dark brown curly hair to shoulders, over 5 feet tall, skinny build. Armed with a silver handgun.

2. White Male Adult, Late twenties, short brown hair, mustache and goatee, wearing Carhardt pants, Blue hooded sweatshirt

Anyone with information on this case is requested to contact the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office at 707-445-7251.

The suspects made a comment while driving the victim around they were heading to Crescent City

Uh…you might want to keep in mind that as kidnappers and armed robbers, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they might have been lying to the victim about their travel plans.

Just sayin’.

Point taken…I added a question mark to the title. Is that better?

Yup, I think that does the trick.

Thanks for covering this story in the first place (and sorry if it seemed like I was nit-picking).

These are know as “Drive By Kidnappings” in Mexico and have become much more frequent in the last 10 years.

In the movies the cops would have gone in any direction but Crescent City because they wouldn’t have been fooled by the supposedly overheard remark (loud enough for captive to hear).
This isn’t he movies however. Maybe the kidnappers are that stupid and did go to Crescent City! I don’t think so because I haven’t heard anything yet…but you just never know about criminal types. Their usually not members of MENSA

Looks like they’ve arrested one of the suspects in that kidnapping case. They got him near Salyer; his car was broken down. Assuming they got the right guy, that’s quite a lucky break.
