Unknown Body Found on the Eel River

Humboldt Co Sheriff Press Release:

On 07-28-2011 at approximately 7:00 pm hours the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a telephone call from a citizen, who had located a body in the Eel River off the 2400 block of Dyerville Loop Road near McCann.

When deputies arrived on scene they contacted the citizen, who had discovered the body. That citizen then led the deputies to the location of the body of the river bar. Deputies saw the body, which was badly decomposed and was lying in a small pool of water. It appeared that the body had been in the river for a while and had came to rest on a stump in the river.

Deputies contacted Sheriff Office Detectives and the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office, who responded to the scene. The Coroner’s Office with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office then removed the body from the water.

The body appears be that of a male subject. At this time unknown, who the victim maybe. An autopsy has been scheduled in the near future to determine exact cause of death by the Coroner’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Coroner’s Office to determine the identify of the victim.

Anyone with possible information on the deceased male subject is being asked to call Detective Kyla Smith at 707-268-3643 or the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office at 707-
445-7242.

 

UPDATE 8/6/11: Body appears to be the victim of homicide.

Is it just me, or have we been seeing a lot of deaths around here lately. I once heard July was the deadliest month of the year in california. Be safe everyone, were all in this together.

This place has more people who disappear and more bodies that turn up than anywhere I’ve every been or heard of. It’s plain creepy.

Problem when bad people try to sink bodies in that river, bodies end up getting stuck in the rocks cause that area used to be clearcut and the shit is all shallow.

Folks don’t quite get when they murk someone they gotta dump the body in the woods outside King Peak and cover the body with red devil and the burial site with grass seeds.

Heard this from a little birdie, mind you.

I was camping in the area and actually witnessed the sheriffs and coroner driving through camp. had me and my friends pretty wierded out
