Shooting at Mendo Campground Results in One Dead, One Critically Injured

Mendocino Co. Sheriff Press Release:

On 7-20-2011 at approximately 19:50 the Mendocino County Sheriffs Dispatch Center was contacted by employees at the Bu Shay Campground regarding a shooting which had just occurred.

Mendocino County Sheriffs Deputies along with the California Highway Patrol, Redwood Valley Fire, California Department of Forestry, Reach and Calstar Air Ambulances proceeded to and arrived at campsite#8.

Deputies learned that two people at the campsite had been shot.  The Forty-Year old Victim was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center with life saving techniques taking place. He subsequently passed away from the injury.  Victim#2 was flown via air ambulance to an out of county hospital for a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.  His current medical condition is listed as critical but in stable condition.

Mendocino County Sheriffs Detectives are currently investigating the incident and are in the process of identifying at least three-four suspects responsible for the shootings.

A forensic examination of the decedent will be conducted on Friday 7-22-2011.   Further information will be released when available.
