I think one of the nicest things about living here is coming back from a trip somewhere and realizing what a beautiful place home is. Once you shed the traffic north of Santa Rosa it is truly a wonderful drive. From the vineyards to the Redwoods. Lately I have grown more interested in the scenery north of Rio Dell. The wind swept trees on the west facing bluffs and the changing seasons looking out across the bottoms towards Ferndale. Having lived on the New England coast for several years I saw nothing more impressive than Trinidad State Beach with its sea stacks . We are lucky to be here.

This is such a beautiful place. Even today, when I was in Eureka and the sky was heavy and gray, the redwoods of Sequoia Park were deep and mysterious, the Victorians were charming, and people were so nice.
