Spanish Fire 100% Contained

A day and a half after the fire at Spanish Flat was reported it is now being called as 100% contained.  The fire which was around 16 miles north of Shelter Cove and was mainly unreachable by vehicle blew up on Friday evening.  The cause at this time is unknown. Inmates, Calfire, and local volunteers from Honeydew and Petrolia battled the first major fire of the 2011 season. As of last night the fire had consumed almost 500 acres of mainly grassland.
