The Hill that Ate the Road is Sporting Happy Faces
The dentist’s drill doesn’t make most of us smile but a subcontractor crew on the huge slide just north of Garberville marked the spots for drilling water drains in the Hill That Ate the Road with Happy Faces. (Click on the photo to enlarge.) These horizontal drains will hopefully help keep the hillside from ponding and sliding into the roadway again.
