She is so beautiful. Pregnant. Perfect. Comfortable. Doesn’t even consider sonograms, lab tests, diagnosis, possible problems, old problems, new problems, C-sections, inducing… Yeah. I love the photo, and your caption. Thanks.

I haven’t seen any fawns yet, but they are timely…

Hanging with our preggers doe out the window is a yearling who appears to be mangy–with a large patch of much lighter and seemingly shorter hair on her side. Has anyone seen this? Can you recommend a doe pediatrician?

I have noticed a few deer in our area Longwind with that “mangey” sort of look with the lighter patches… I had wondered if it was that deer disease that Kym posted about…. or just shedding a winter coat? Anybody know?

LOVE yer blog Kym!
Oh dear! Deer! I let this soak into my fiery core with the rain and your photo brought up some very potent memories of my deer encounters while living in So Hum.
The first was when I lived up Eel Rock above Miranda… and I would be chanting and singing early in the morining indoors and I would look out the windows and see my cabin all surrounded by deer just hanging out and vibing with my sounds. It was at that same locatio
that deer came and walked along beside me when I was walking at night, several times and as my arms swung along, they nuzzled my hand! I found this so comforting and enchanting because I didn’t have a dog at the time and the deer made me feel so safe!
Many other times mostly on private lands, deer have come very close and just hanging out not just “passing through”.
One full moon night I walked from Whale Gulch to Whitethorne with some deer companions! I swear I saw our auras glowing in the dark!
I don’t know if the true colors come thru on our web tech… but I don’t think I have ever seen the color and patterns of the deer in your photo before, it looks unusual to me, as does the shapes of the
head and body.
I have many wild animal stories including a pair of foxes that came 3
and talked and ran and danced with me 3 times and I fed them plums and concord grapes from the garden while they came very close and showed no fear whatsoever. They always announced themselves by coming up to me when I was outdoors playing guitar and singing and they said, “eitch! eitch! eitch!” and I greeted them and told them I was glad they could make it, and they were just very content to hang out and run circles around me in the orchard, all the while continuing to make their vocal sounds and then come dance with me. I bought Xmas tree FOX ornaments! I’ve never been the same since!

Those must have been life changing experiences. I feel blessed to get close enough to take photos. I envy you.
