Inmates Win Ribbons and Donate Clothing to Homeless

Press Release from the Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Office:

Subject: Jail Inmates Donate to Less Fortunate

Inmates from the Humboldt County Correctional Facility will donate handmade hats, scarves,

blankets tomorrow to the Betty Chinn and those she helps. The inmates are participants in a

jail program in which two volunteers teach them knitting and crocheting skills. The inmates are

then able to donate their wares to local organizations. In the past, blankets and hats made by

the inmates have been given to local seniors and to hospitals. Additionally, several items made

by the inmates were entered in last year’s Humboldt County Fair, winning several blue ribbons.

The news media is invited to tomorrow’s donation event at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul’s

Eureka dining facility at 35 W. 3rd Street. The donations will be presented by inmates from the

correctional facility.
