No words needed…your photo tells the whole story.

Thanks for sharing it. It almost looks like an oil painting it’s so beautiful.

That’s why I love it, too. Protect it for generations ahead of us.

This post sums up one of the things I love about Humboldt — the natural beauty.

The new post just above this one( “Crews Work through the Night and into Today to Save Home and County Bridge Near Alderpoint”) sums up another thing I love about this county — the way people all pull together to meet the challenges. In this case, it sounds like more than 40 volunteers pulled themselves together, and that they are now joined by workers contracted by the County.

That help from the County is happening because people talking to their local County supervisor, and that supervisor pressed his colleagues for action. So big thanks to Clif Clendenen, and thanks to everyone who contacted him (and the other Supes) to encourage them to take swift action. Thanks also to the other supervisors who stepped up to the plate and O.K.’d the emergency spending, even though it isn’t in their districts. And the biggest thanks to all the volunteers and the workers!

It’s inspiring to see people come together so quickly and effectively to deal with this situation. Kudos to everyone who has pitched in to try to help save both that particular home, and also the road, which is a lifeline for residents living out past that point.

Oaks are incredible…and that constant cricket buzz that soundtracks the rolling hills of dry grass around them in the summer. I really miss that kind of landscape living right along the northern coast…costs twenty bucks in gas now just to visit that terrain. No complaints…it’s got its tradeoffs and we’re friggin lucky to be able to live here.
