Big Trucks, Little Roads
Briceland Road is seeing some heavy use these days with Highway 101 closed due to a massive slide. According to the signs, only locals are supposed to be using the alternate route through Briceland but apparently some local has opened an Orgill Home Improvement store because certainly no one would want to endanger people by driving a big truck through those little back roads just to get some knickknacks delivered. Oddly though, there is no Orgill store or even a furniture store in the area so I’m guessing a little fudging on the “local” label, eh?
Hey driver, we’re friendly type folk here but if you are going to cheat and drive through our little roads with your big truck, could you at least stay on your own side, drive slow, and pull over for the locals…?

Simon from KMUD news says Orgill is a regular commuter on the roads out towards Briceland. So maybe I was a little harsh. Check out the video though to see that more than one Orgill truck had trouble staying on its side of the road.

I’ve seen Orgill trucks pretty regularly on Briceland Road over the last few years, like every three or four weeks on my commute. I thought they were just a delivery service, thought they might deliver to Whitethorn Construction perhaps. Don’t know anything else about them. I wonder how much worse they are than a fricking diesel truck for the fricking diesel dopers?

Besides, THAT IS HOW trucks drive across that bridge, thanks for the example, Kim. It’s classic. They ALWAYS take up more than one lane. I’ve seen it numerous times. It’s sometimes a bit scary to be in the other lane, but one just pays attention and drives slow enough, comes to a stop if necessary. That truck driver possibly has been through this stretch more than the much esteemed photographer (I mean that, Kim’s awesome! And apparently pretty brave, too).

Speaking of big trucks on roads, how did today’s Save Richardson Grove rally in Garberville turn out?
BTW, was there a typo in the newspaper when it said you are 45 minutes from a market? that doesn’t seem possible.
RAMDX,
I haven’t heard how The Richardson Grove rally went. As to the distance from market, I live out the backside of Salmon Creek– 45 minutes from Garberville (When there isn’t a massive slide on 101). Strictly speaking, I live slightly closer (about 10 minutes) if I were to shop at the tiny stores in Myers Flat and Miranda.
Would a country store in your neck of the woods do well?

Sigh, I have noticed in my life that whenever I allow myself to be snippy, I’m almost always wrong. Sorry, Orgill driver, looks like you were just helping local businesses out.
