Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9
Could this oil of gladness have been made from cannabis? If not this oil, could other oils extracted from what the Hebrews called keneh bosem? According to the latest post on Legalization Nation, the idea that ancient Christians and, indeed, Christ himself used a marijuana oil is gaining credence among some scholars. In fact, some say that the ancient term for Christian comes from a term meaning “a person with pot oil smeared over their face.”

In some places in the bible it specifies olive oil in others in uses the kaneh term which some scholars are claiming is cannabis. I’m not convinced. I think the idea is intriguing though.

A new thought for me – I always assumed olive oil was the oil used by the early Christians.

Etymologists say the word kaneh may be cognate with modern ‘cane,’ as in sugar cane. Canes are strong yet supple stems, which is hemp to a T. I dunno if it’s legit but it’s interesting.

They hallucinated the whole thing because they couldn’t tell the difference between a cubensis and a chanterelle.

Sula Benet’s Kaneh bosm theory would be valid except for that Christianity is a fake as hell cultural thing made up 300 years after the whole Christ deal was already supposed to have went down anyway.
