Vigilantes in Ukiah Beat Ripoff into a Coma
Don’t go messing with folks in Ukiah’s weed. On Sept. 23, a group attempted to steal marijuana from the backyard of a resident on the 700 block of Myron Place. Neighbors caught and beat at least one with sticks. According to the Ukiah Daily Journal, the neighbors
…confronted several people stealing plants from the backyard, grabbing at least one of them and detaining them. At this time, the rest of the suspects reportedly began throwing rocks and pieces of concrete at the residents, demanding those held be released.
The resident of the home called police who arrived to capture at least one thief while the rest escaped. The neighbors claimed that firearm had been discharged but officers did not find one or evidence one had been fired.
The 46 year old suspect who was captured had been beaten with a stick and later went into a coma from which he has since emerged. He stated that his co-conspirators lived in the area but none have been identified yet.
The officers determined that the marijuana was in “violation of city ordinances” and removed it.
Is it just me, or does the Emerald Triangle frequently sound like we live in the wild west?

It is not just you. We do live in the wild west.
I wonder if it’s this bad economy?
I sure hear a lot more about weed ripoffs these last few years. More so than any other time I can remember since moving here in 1979.
A sign of the times?
Will legalizing it stop this?

First of all, you don’t steal, and someone’s medicine, shame n you.

No one can predict what idiots will do Rose, but how often do things like this happen over
booze or tobacco?
Or to put it another way; Yes. It probably will!

I bet nobody gets ripped off again in that neighborhood anytime soon.

It won’t stop the theft but it will stop the beatings/shootings.
People have stolen from my garden before but I have so much that I am not about to post up security cameras and go jump someone for snagging a Hopi Blue corn stalk. I’d like to but since the plants are only worth $10 while a security camera is $150 and an assault charge is thousands even if you are found innocent… not about to jump anyone over their jacking for tortilla needs.
Outdoor weed plants are typically worth at least $500 so I can see why folks would be willing to take risks if they saw something go down. If someone came and tried to steal my truck I might have to do something. Once weed is cheap or they got OnStar for weed this will prolly stop happening.

Only greedy fools need to overgrow and worry about rip-offs, to me it just seems like they deserve it for being a pothead waste that bury trash in holes, pump streams dry, and mix their fert at the bottom of wells.
I wish the worst for overgrowers who stampede out to log for more light and can’t even do their own work without a crew of shitheads to do it for them…..third generation growers are pussy and weak.
I agree that only greedy fools need to overgrow, but undeserving people get ripped off all the time. Maybe you just haven’t seen it happen as often as it does (maybe I’ve seen it happen unusually often?) Growing marijuana inside or out in urban and suburban areas is gambling many things.

Speaking of beating up people, the Feds in all their arrogant glory pounded the Covelo area last Wednesday. It was a military style raid, the kind they wouldn’t dare do in a less remote area where the press would pay attention. My source of info was an Indian lawyer. I have seen only sparse reporting, anyone else heard details?

Olamnriver, the police are trying to say it was La Eme paying Indians to use their land to grow pot in exchange for half the product and migrant gardeners.
I say many levels of weirdos are at play.
Why is a Southern California prison gang able to get in when Northerners have the area sewed up but even then nobody tries to mess with the international cartel slice as far as I know. Times change fast and it is not like we get new from what’s going on in prison so I can’t speak on that really.
I think the police are being instructed by the feds to use some type of fear buzzwords as propaganda for a subversive purpose. They can’t really say who is behind it all because when it turns out the old men living at the gardens were behind it their whole op starts to look stupid. Aren’t the gangs running competing 100,000 plant grows? What is this 80 plant bullshit? Only 20,000 in a week? That takes care of what… 0.1% of this years crop? Serious. Cops lose again.
