I think what we have around here is commonly called Old Man’s Beard, a slightly different lichen than the Spanish Moss of the warm and humid Deep South. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usnea But equally beautiful, even without the romantic name.
I love how well it grows in our territory of clean air. You won’t see it down in the metropolises. 8^)
