Apex North Raid

Federal agents raided Apex North in Redway.  Officials are being closed mouthed about the action.  Humboldt Co.  Sheriff’s spokesperson, Brenda Godsey explained that the local sheriffs were only present as representatives of the County but the investigation was under the Mendocino County Drug Task Force’s oversight. However, federal officers seemed to be in charge of the action.

The part owner of the business had last month been the subject of an investigation that resulted in the discovery of three underground marijuana grow rooms and 300 plants.

For more information check KMUD’s Friday evening news (see about a third of the way into the broadcast) KMUD was not allowed to stay on the property in Redway but Mendocino Sheriff Tom Allman told Cynthia Elkins that the US Drug Enforcement Agency  issued the warrant. No other information has been forthcoming.

Calls to the Justice Dept. and the Mendocino County Drug Task Force have yet to yield any response.

Questions:  Does anyone know whether computers were seized?  Seems likely but no one has stated seeing that.

Makes me wonder if the DEA raids would stop if California legalized

Ben,
Yes Apex North is a diesel delivery company (as well being attached to a wonderful alternative energy store). I would guess that their delivery records are on computers and that the computers have been seized though I haven’t been able to confirm that.

However, customers should probably not get too frantic as Sheriff Allman assured me that having diesel delivered to one’s property is not grounds for a serious investigation.

Thanks for the update. I haven’t gone to town for a paper yet. Rama is such a nice guy, hope they drop everything like they did with Sylvandale years ago. I don’t know what they might be able to do with his records as they can’t really use anything in court that they weren’t specifically looking for. I imagine Johnny Cash was his main customer anyway. Good luck finding him!

Two people who want to remain anonymous have added the following details. Last Sunday, federal officers were at Snap Fan all day (Snap Fan is also affiliated with Apex North and Appropriate Power. )

In addition, the Arcata office of Appropriate Power had all its computers seized in the last few days as were the ones here in SoHum. One source said, “Everyone they ever delivered fuel to was listed on the computers.”

I wanted to amend the earlier report about the Feds being at Snap Fan on Sunday. In fact, it was on Friday.
