Of Outlaws

Horse

Repeat of a photo from this earlier post

Outlaw societies and outlaw mustangs weave a spell around a few of us.  I know I might be guilty of overromanticizing them both. I certainly appreciate the blessing of a peaceful, lawful country and am impressed by a well trained horse. But there is something we lose as a culture when we force everyone into one narrow interpretation of right behavior. And there is something we lose as humanity when all our wild things are tamed.

Read a local woman’s memories about the wild horses of Nevada.  You will be touched.

Wow, the photograph is absolutely stunning. Such clarity, but what draws me in the most is the eye.

Horses & Outlaws,,, untamed spirit & freedom have always had a deep pull for me. Even knowing there are better safer choices, I still find myself drawn to that beauty that holds danger rippling just beneath the surface. Some may be drawn to the calm, orderly, organized life & I envy that a little, but for me it’s that little tug of fear, that roll of the dice, that makes the beautiful moments shine brighter.

I probably will be odd man out on this post, although I think the wild horses are beautiful and agree that people shouldn’t complain of wild animals if they (the humans) move into their (the wild critters) territory. What may make me odd man out is I’m very tired of my neighbor’s chickens (she just got them a few months ago) breaking out of their coop and scratching away all my redwood bark and newspaper mulch that I so carefully laid this summer. I was here first, not those dang chickens! And I won’t even mention the 7 or 8 unleashed dogs on my street that use my front yard as their personal toilets every single day.

The photo is beautiful and I would love to see a herd of wild mustangs in person. Let those who moved into the horses’ territory build a fence around their property and quit complaining.

Thanks for the referral, Kym. I understand where Bluelaker4 is coming from. The problem we had in Nevada was with people move to “the country” for the romance but didn’t understand it was a lifestyle, not just buying a horse and hanging blue curtains with little geese on them.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful horse, Kym. It’s too bad your non-marijuana posts don’t get as many comments as your marijuana posts do. 😉 I’ve been away for a while and this is a great image to come to. I’ll try to read the linked to post another day, after I catch up on my regulars.

That photo of yours has something special going for. Similarly wild life is something special.
