Salmon Creek: A Sturdy Neighborhood

Of Course, I Did It

Communities provide the poles which allow us to climb.

If they are sturdy, individuals have the courage to pull themselves to inspiring heights. Strong communities also serve as handholds to keep families from falling.

I’m so proud of my Salmon Creek neighbors who stood firmly around two families this weekend. One family lost their son and another faces losing their home. People tucked away their everyday concerns and came to stand beside their friends and offer both emotional support and, in the second case, financial support. Over $6000 was raised in a couple hours.

Communities like ours can keep people from falling AND give a steady place to help us climb towards our dreams.

Thanks to everyone in Salmon Creek for being so incredibly wonderful! I’m glad I live here.

Yes, we raised that money in a couple of hours, after Kym, with help from her boys and fellow playgroup moms, worked for weeks to put on that wonderful party. And the girl in the photo not only climbs poles, she’s a great baker: I won, in the dessert walk, her beautiful, healthy & scrumptious gluten-free lemon cake with cream cheese frosting, decorated with a very droll face made of flower parts. Friends and I enjoyed it with coffee this morning. Thanks Kaliana and Kym!
