Hummingbird in a Butterfly Bush
Draining the Last Drop
Daily Photo
This little guy and a rival were buzzing in and out of my butterfly bush this afternoon. He has a rather gaunt cranky old man appearance to my jaundiced eye but that may be because the bush is enormous with plenty of room to feed and he still insisted on angrily chasing off his tiny rival.

You really managed to capture the movement of those tiny wings. We’ve had several hanging around here lately, too.
Gorgeous. I suspect it’s that “territorial male” thing. They never want to share.
He looks very similar to the one and only Hummingbird we have this summer. I don’t know where the brightly colored ones have gone.
Beautiful shot…..as usual. My hummingbird feeder doesn’t seem to be attracting any at all. Poop.
purty cool Kim – i love little hummers. you are a real lens peeper!
