This may be your best one yet, Kym.

You are certainly on a tear.

I love this. Humboldt County Fair entry forms are due by mid-July!!! I’d even recommend getting it printed on that metallic paper I mentioned before. Not that it can make it look any better, but I bet it would really “pop” it (mpix.com). Great job.

I keep saying I’m going to enter a few but that would mean doing things like getting forms and…you know, follow through….blech! That sounds too hard!

Oh come on now! I pride myself as being the world’s best procrastinator – you can’t be any worse than me ;-).

I did it one year, Kym. It wasn’t that hard, and I even won a ribbon!

I have never liked the Idea of a “Contest” where your “stuff “ is judged and you win a blue, pink, or yellow ribbon.

My wife entered some of her spinny-weavy and needlepoint stuff a few years ago and won all kinds of awards, and ribbons, and I was very proud of her, but I must admit that her stuff would have been the same to me whether she had won ribbons or not. I guess what I’m trying to say is; “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

The photos that Kym takes are photos that any of us could take if we could see them. The reason that Kym’s photo’s are so outstanding is that she has “Eye”. She can see the beauty in things, and she can capture what she “see’s”. Most of us can’t translate that feeling of beauty, or style, or class, into a photo, but we all see it in our own way, and some of us see beauty and wonder in different things. Kym has a very unique gift in that she can give us some of the beauty and wonder that she see’s.

If Kym entered her stuff in a contest we would all be broken hearted if she didn’t win first place, because we all agree with what she see’s as a great photo. If a group of judges didn’t agree with our vision. It wouldn’t be fair to us.

One of the things that I like about blogging is that most of us say what we see or feel on the blogsite, and Kym gets many well deserved accolades. Maybe she should print and frame a photo and place it on the wall with our comments beneath it. Wouldn’t that be as good as a blue ribbon? But then all those people at the fair would have to miss out.

Oh well, good luck Kym! Just remember you have already won our approval.

Ernie, while I totally respect your opinion, I think that part of the fun of doing these contests is just to expose your art to those who might not otherwise see it. How many old timers do you know that have never surfed the ‘net or even would know how to navigate a blog?

I love looking at art and I’ll still like it no matter if it has a ribbon or not. I just exhibited nine of my pieces at the Redwood Acres Fair and yes, I did get a few ribbons but not all of mine placed. It was my first time and let me tell you, it felt so good to share my stuff with “the world.” I stood there and watched a few people look and smile at some of my pics. That was better than any of the ribbons I won.

ERNIE AND SANDIE YOU BOTH MAKE VERY GOOD POINTS, BUT IT IS KYM’S DECISION ON WHAT TO DO, SO PEOPLE DON’T PRESSURE HER LET HER BE HER SELF AND LET HER DO WHAT SHE DOES SO WELL, AND THAT IS MAKE US SMILE WHEN WE SEE HER PICTURES HERE….KYM YOU AND YOUR PICTURES ROCK !

Ernie and Sandi are like the little angels sitting on my shoulder. One saying yes and one saying no. I’m inherently lazy so I’ll bet Ernie’s angel wins.

Thanks you all for saying such kind words.
