Kym, By composed, I meant that you made good choices. Fill-in flash is something that you use to take a photo that has a bright background. The flash “Fills in” the foreground. As you did most perfectly!

Bracketing, is were you expose a photo perfectly, then take a shot with more light exposure, and one with less light exposure.
The next time you see a rainbow, bracket the photos, one lighter and one darker, you will end up with three distinct photo’s. Rainbow are all light, by darkening the photo the rainbow will become more intense, while your background darkens.
Try the same thing with sunsets, you will become much more aware of what to do to compose a photo.
Good luck. ( This advice comes from someone who has never taken as good of a photo as you do everyday. So take my advice with a grain of salt.)

Hmmm beautiful image, but are you certain it is pear? Looks like nectarine or peach, which at my place are freely blooming right now. The clustered blossoms of the pear have barely begun to emerge.

Glad you like her. Brilliant woman, art, and concepts. She’s quoted and talks a little about her views on pop culture Nature etc. as well as my art in the North Coast Journal down near the bottom of the page.

Headwrapper, she’s involved with the magazine Picklebird, that you posted about, too. Sounds like an interesting woman!
Jj, I bought it from Sylvandale last year and the tag said it was a dwarf pear. I haven’t seen any fruit yet but I have my mouth set for a big juicy one this fall so it better be one.

Kym, You have one Carol mixed up with another. They were both quoted in the NCJ article. Carol Es is an artist from LA … Very bright, very hip, and has a great sense of humor. Picklebird is her baby. Carol Spicuzza, is the one who did MIdnight Jeweler etc. She’s a professor at the University of Indiana and a Jungian scholar as well as being a fantastic painter. You can see photos of both of them here

Headwrapper, I’m trying Text to link. Let’s hope it works.
Steve, Thank you. I’m working on photographing people. I’d like to get good at that. This pear blossom photo is a little too pink for me. But I’m working on photographing against the sun and I’m getting better.

Almost too beautiful to be real.

They look like little bitty roses. Great picture. Obviously composed, but still completely natural.
Did you use a fill in flash?

I took the photo with a night setting so I got a flash (but I don’t know what a fill in flash is) but other than that everything is natural.

I can use all the advice I can get. I’ve only been seriously taking photos about 5 months now.
Next I want to figure out how to do people. I’m going to practice tomorrow at the Easter Party.
Thanks for the nice words.

Cool link Headwrapper, I love her Midnight Jeweler. What a great conception of woman as creator.

Oops! I’m terrible with names. Definitely different kinds of art.
I have a question. How do you embed links in your comments? I can’t figure out how. I end up with the whole url which is messy and unwieldy.

I can relate. I am absolutely horrible with names myself.
