Hard to say, really. I suppose the main answer is money…money is in towns. If I could only spend enough time in town to get enough money so I could afford to live in the country….uhhhh….

I sure enjoy the days that we can stay home and not drive anywhere. It seems that I have not had a day like that for a long while.

So of course I bitterly spent the day in town but I shouldn’t be too acrid because I am so lucky..
My poor husband drives an hour and a half every weekday to Eureka to work and then turns around and drives an hour and half coming home again. So I guess he does the getting the money from the town part. I am so lucky.
I have the next 3 days at home. I am going for walks, gardening, wrapping packages and homeschooling my littlest. I am so lucky.

Hey you guys are pretty good–Money, martial arts (Tong Soo Do ;>), Friends, food, and, I’d add, family. But the days I get to stay home are wonderful and don’t happen often enough!

The view in that photo is one of the sights I miss most from Salmon Creek. But I’m content as a townie because I’m such a social animal the commute would do me in. I can’t imagine how Kevin and so many others do it every day!

Kevin does have a long commute twice a day. I couldn’t do it. But I couldn’t live up on your mountain for long either. I do like solitude to a certain extent, and I really love the beautiful views, but I guess I’m just a worldly person because I don’t want to drive for an hour to get to a store or a movie theatre or church or the doctor. Not to mention I’m scared to death of bears and snakes and other critters who seem to like to visit your house!

I love Bear Buttes and I love bear butts (as in running away from me not towards me;>)
The view and the wildlife are wonderful up here. Mostly, I would just like the bears to stay a little farther away and the ride into town to come only once a week instead of 5 or 6 times a week like it seems to now that I have teenagers.
Well, I love some bare butts too, and I see a few more of them up the hill than I do down the hill. But, well, I’m not sure I’d be staying up the hill just so I could see more bare butts.

Jeesh if you were a woman living alone you would have a much finer appreciation for your situation I would totally stay on a mountain just to appreciate a bare butt.

Tae Kwan Do.
In my mind? The only thing that would get me down the mountain would be my friends.
Which is why I don’t live up there. I’d be a hermit.

Well, since 3 out of the 4 bare butts I see regularly are my own sons’, I’m just not as excited by them as I otherwise would be.

Okay you have me that would definitely dampen the excitement quotient.

Ahh, not for me! But I’ll bet there many frantic dashes down the mountains for those fragile wrappers.
