Humboldt Fog
The Road
Uncurling–
still wet from a morning shower–
Droplets
trickling,
slowly,
wetly
down
arching spine,
Stretching sumptuously,
Flirtatiously,
Enticing me from self-important virtue
To bliss.
This morning I reluctantly set out to spend the day among the teeming pre-Thanksgiving hordes but this misty corner delighted me and changed my mood. Sometimes (though not always) Humboldt Fog accentuates and highlights the incredible place I live in.

Ah, this reminds me of an essay I wrote for a writing class about 20 years ago. I’ll have to dig it out and post it on my blog.
Very nice…much more pleasant to spend your hours among the foggy Redwoods than among the teeming hordes.

I swear the fog here is different than anywhere else. It smells different, feels different, everything.
I don’t know why that is.
What a gorgeous picture. Happy Thanksgiving. I DO have to go brave the pre-holiday horde. Wish me luck.

The fog can be lovely, creepy or treacherous. But I love it.

In our part of the country, the fog lurks on harvested corn fields, glowing in the full moon’s light like someone’s opened a cooler of dry ice.

Nicely said. Someday, but not when it’s winter, I’d like to see Illinois.

Well, I’d have liked to have heard that conversation…
That banner is actually a collage I just put together. Although I had to size them, color them to match my blog, fade them into each other, etc., I must confess the originals are not my work but rather images that I have found on the web that moved me.
Sometime I’d like to make a similar one to replace it, using my own original images, or maybe images of/from my readers.

Well, I’d volunteer but somehow I don’t think the visual would be quite as pleasant;>
