“This year’s budget dance will kick off a political tussle over spending and taxes that will likely continue for the remainder of Newsom’s governorship.”

“When you make your appointment to repair the beat-up front end on your vehicle after you just paid a $1500 bill for tires chewed up on our abysmal county roads you can contemplate the handful of people that chose to spend more of your money on county trails than on county roads,” the letter writer argues.

“Both Klamath and Colorado situations could, and probably should, have been resolved without taxpayers on the hook to compensate those whose actions had caused their problems in the first place. But, as the old saying goes, money talks while bull—- walks.”

“The bottom 2 inches of the coop was a solid mass. Ordinarily the coop interior is dusty dry and can be raked and swept easily to the side that opens and I load it all into the trailer. Not so this time… I went and got the hoe and the bark spud and pulled out a can of elbow grease… My 2 hour job turned into a 5 hour unfinished nightmare with a late dinner… .”

“Although there is no official law or code stating that cultivators included under our program are protected or exempt from code enforcement, there is an understanding between the County and the  Trinity County Sheriff’s Dept. that cultivators in-process for a license (e.g., are currently completing  CEQA documentation, biological assessments, etc.), will not be enforced upon while navigating this  process with us, and our subcontractor Flowra, so long as they are in compliance with environmental  laws and County inspections.”

“In April there was a presentation that stated there are an estimated 4,700 vacant houses in Humboldt County, houses that are generally not rented out. Second homes, vacation rentals or homes that just aren’t on the rental market. At this same time there are an estimated 3,000 people homeless in Humboldt County.  We can end homeless right here and now!”

“As a first grader this year he is nearing being sent home close to 100 times between this year and his Kindergarten year. This does not count days where I have kept him home due to illness or appointments.  He has been suspended twice.”
