Supervisor Rex Bohn struck a nerve with cartoonist Terry Torgerson.

“As usual, the state’s politicians and education officials, backed by school unions, see money as the only important factor in California’s chronic inability to climb out of the lower tier of states in educational performance.”

The scars remain.

So here we are, blessed with an abundance of apples, abundance of shared experience and abundance of cider as well. And what is abundance for, if not sharing?

Rain, heat, rain… a little something for everyone.

We know some of you optimistic types set your alarms bright and early, hoping to witness the moon photobombing the sun in the most spectacular way possible.

This year, the rains arrived right on time towards the beginning of fall, like a punctual guest. In past drought years, however, these rains often played hard to get, sashaying in unbearably late, leaving us all nervously checking our watches and staring at the skies.

“Now all the work we put into the year, sowing and nurturing, comes to a crescendo with the harvest reaching its climax. Now is the time of ripening.”
