Yesterday, the same day families and friends of missing and murdered indigenous peoples gathered in front of a Federal Bureau of Investigation’s field office in Fortuna, Negie Fallis, the primary suspect in the disappearance of Covelo woman Khadijah Britton, was transported by federal agents to San Francisco to await arraignment on federal charges.

“Keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous criminal offenders is one of the Department of Justice’s top priorities,” said Attorney General Barr. “This is especially important when it comes to individuals with prior domestic violence convictions.”

“The case arose in January 2018 after 14-year-old Jane Doe 1 told her high school teacher that her stepfather, Dare, had molested her as a child. After learning of her sister’s bravery in coming forward, Jane Doe 2 disclosed to law enforcement that she also had been abused by Dare.”

“As agents performed knock and notice at the front of the residence Reeves ran out of the back of the house and jumped off a second story deck before running into the wooded area behind the house.”

“As Crews again attempted to flee, she struck a patrol vehicle prior to stopping her vehicle.”

“As of September 28, 2020, there are 475 registered sex offenders in Humboldt County.”

“Waltrip is recovering from a major injury suffered during a recent traffic collision. Due to the injury and additional medical treatment required agents did not place Waltrip under arrest.”
