[UPDATE 3:42 p.m.: Video] Semi Catches Fire Near Loleta

The engine of a big rig carrying wood chips caught fire about 9:44 a.m. on Hwy 101 near the Loleta offramp, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

One lane is still closed as of 11 a.m.

The cab is completely burned but the trailer remained mostly undamaged according the CHP page.

No ambulance responded to the scene.

I drove by northbound about 10. Lots of smoke and flames. Glad to hear no reports of injury.

I just passed the tow truck with what was left of the cab. There was barely a frame left… nothing else.

These will continue to happen because of CARB Laws. Some how some political figure got paid a lot of money to spread Uric Acid into the environment, causing many fires as a result. The particulate filters have to get extremely hot in order to burn off (clean it’s self).
