Car Fire South of Myers Flat on Hwy 101 This Afternoon

About 2:30 p.m., a silver sedan was reported to be smoking on the side of Hwy 101 near Myers Flat, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. Soon after the vehicle burst into flames.

Cal Fire and local fire departments responded to the scene. The fire did not spread to vegetation and no one was injured.

However, the entire vehicle was gutted.

I heard that Cheech and Chong were seen exiting the vehicle soon before it burst into flames.

Looks like a Toyota Prius mabe battery short out or they dropped there roach, we know its not caused from going so fast it could burst into flames

I passed where that happened on my way home from Eureka. Just before where the car burned up there were some wild skid marks on the pavement, then the car went up on the bank of rip-rap rocks and back down. It probably punctured the lithium batteries.

I don’t know if it was even the same accident, but where the car burned up was the first turn out past.
