This morning, about 9:19 a.m., a car caught on fire off 11th Street near M in Arcata. When the Incident Commander arrived on scene, he ordered a nearby building evacuated as a precaution.

Arcata Police began removing people from the area. However, according to Arcata Fire District Chief Justin McDonald, “[The fire] didn’t expand into any buildings.”

The car was destroyed though.

Arson is not suspected in this case.

It just spontaneously combusted while sitting there? Or did someone pileup there with the car already on fire? It’s weird if It wasn’t arson.

Most car fires are not arson. There’s rotating parts, friction, 12 v DC electrical systems,Fuel, tires. Throw in a rat, or a cherry from that roach…

Rodents love to build nests on engines. Could have been on the exhaust manifold.

Rode hard and put away hot. Typical Warshington drivers.

Me, I looked as closely as possible, and I can’t tell if they are Washington or California plates. How did you tell?

I can tell they are California plates because the red font is top center and I can see the tail of the cursive ‘f’ in California. Washington plates typically say WASHINGTON in all caps and located top left.

Well, it looks like that Chevrolet just committed suicide by setting itself on fire. Glad there were no injuries. Thank you Arcata Fire Department. Another job well done!

🕯🌳It is hard to tell what the plates are but it doesn’t look like a engine fire with him spraying water into the passenger door. 👁👁
