An RV Destroyed by Fire in Manila Tonight
Mike Carlson*, who called 911 to report the fire, said he was alerted to the fire by a light in the distance.
“I thought someone shot a flare or a firework,” he explained. “Then it was like poof. It looks like someone threw gasoline on a brush fire. Three of my buddies sprinted over there.” Carlson called 911 then followed his friends.
The group of friends found a garden hose and began spraying down a tree between the trailer on fire and a nearby home where an older woman lived.
He said the woman told the group that the man who had lived there had left not long after 5 p.m.
“The Fire Department was there quick,” Carlson said. “They put it out quick.”
We’ve requested more information from Humboldt Bay Fire and will update when we can.
*Carlson, the person we interviewed and Carlson Drive have no connection. The names are only coincidently the same.

more Humboldt heroism: the 4 guys who bravely helped prevent the older lady’s house from catching fire. Way to go, guys!
To Mr Carlson & Friends:
I pray that if my elderly mother finds herself in the same situation someday that her neighbors act as you have.
Thank you.
Is the article calling the RV the residence?
My reading and the pictures say yes, the RV was the residence of the man who had just left it a bit earlier and it was consumed by the fire.
Thanks guys glad for the support ill let the other guys know too and we did what we could
Replace the anode rod in the H20 heater once a year. It could save your life.
It sure looks like the door in the top picture is propped shut to me.
It was. Have video to prove it.
This is like how when Carl Juniorses’ outbid me at Carl’s Johnson for the antique Abruzzi’s breadsticks.
Whatever. I got Larrupin’s on my Los Bagel.
