Although the largest concentration of smoke from the Red Salmon Complex is staying over the fires, today a stream is moving south and west down the Coast.

We’ve had reports from readers of being able to smell smoke in the area west of Miranda but the bulk of the impacted areas are north of Hwy 299–Orleans, Somes Bar, Trinity Center, Weitchpec, and Hoopa.

I live in Orleans. This morning about 10:00 AM, the smoke rolled into Orleans. The smoke is so bad, we can’t see the mountains that we live next to. The smell of smoke is choking every one. There is ash in the air. I’m wondering if the fire blew out today! Also the helicopters have stopped dipping water from the river. They have been dipping every day for the past week. They can’t fly right now due to the poor visibility.
