Hope they are okay. Every time I drive out Salmon Creek Road I’m amazed that there aren’t more accidents. People that live out there really should slow down and stay on their side of the road…

Canabas is legal but speed kills. This is what happens when you’re smoking and driving. Buzzed driving is impared driving. Glad no innocent person was caught up in there situation. It is always the other person who has the seriouser injurys. Not this time dude.

According to the person who showed up first and offered help, these people were tourists and got lost. Single vehicle accident, they probably went too far to the edge. not a surprise when our road is steadily eroding at the edges, and very little maintenance is being done by the county, except patching the patches. Please don’t assume that they were stoned.

Puffing anything as you drive is risky because of dropping an ember, and just extra distraction. However, cannabis’s effects are more likely to slow you down driving. There’s no solid evidence smoking weed is any worse for driving than caffine or tobacco. Would you have made that comment if the wreck was on Campton heights rd instead of Thomas rd.? I’d say I’ve driven on cannabis maybe 4,500 days out of my life so far; perfect safety record.

As you slowly react to your vehicle drifting over the edge. Or the obstacle in the road. Or… This is not a good perspective to have. To decide because you need to drive more slowly you won’t have an accident. Just like the juror on the drunk driving trial who announced he drove that stretch of highway drunk and never had a problem. Hello!

Just pointing out there is scant evidence that cannabis use leads to poor driving habits. “Studies” cited are often hopelessly irrelevant due to cherry picked data, chosen to reinforce old socialized assumptions. So for instance: 100 people are pulled over for speeding, and 20 are cited additionally for DUI- cannabis. Are the other 80 held up as driving under the influence of being an asshole?
Lets say 10% of car wrecks are found to have weed in the vehicle, and that is up from 5% 20 years ago. If we applied the same scrutiny to Complicated-To-Make-Foamy-Milk-Caffine-Drinks, we might find 80 % of wrecks have CTMFMCD residue or delivery devices (paper cups). Up from twenty years ago before Starbucks was a thing.
We might find that over twenty years, evidence of tobacco residue in vehicles involved in wrecks has decreased. Is that because tobacco helped you drive safely, or is it simply less popular with all drivers?

Many people drive these rural roads far faster than they were designed for. Vehicles have more power, handle better and some folks haven’t been here long enough to figure out these aren’t freeways.

They weren’t stoned. I was the one who brought the lady to the hospital, because she had a head injury. She is doing ok this morning. They all are doing ok, and their family is coming to bring them home.

Of 30% of accidents involve someone under the influences that means 70% doesn’t. Sounds to me like the odds are in you favour to have a little something before getting behind the wheel. Let’s party Mr 45000 and I’ll drive.
