A Glimpse Inside the Emergency Operations Center

“Greg Waters, Planning Section Chief with the Humboldt County EOC, talks about how the section functions to support and unite policy makers and agencies across the county during COVID-19 and future emergencies.”

Here is the transcript of the video:

Hello I’m Greg Waters with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services and this is the COVID Minute. I’m currently working the county’s Emergency Operations Center as the Planning Section Chief.

Our planning section helps unite our county by ensuring our partner agencies throughout the area stay informed and equipped to respond to not only COVID-19 but all other emergencies in our county.

We do this in several ways. First, we generate daily reports regarding the current local COVID-19 situation and response efforts which are then provided to policymakers and agencies across the county. These reports help leaders make informed decisions regarding the best use of resources during this pandemic.

Additionally we are here to support our area partners by coordinating supplies and equipment and planning ahead for any potential situations that may develop in the future. In times like these it is even more so important that the county, cities and other partners work together to help keep our community safe, healthy and informed. And this has been your COVID Minute.

I haven’t seen anyone behaving based on fear rather than reasonable caution. Seems like they are mongering in information.
