Arcata City Permit Fees Increasing on Wednesday

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

City of ArcataThe City of Arcata would like to remind the community that most City-service related fees will increase slightly on Wednesday, July 1.

City fees will go up 1.81% due to the standard Consumer Price Index increase, and a complete list of new fees can be found online at www.cityofarcata.org/343/Master-Fee-Schedule-PDF .

Most City permit fees are included in the price increase, and questions pertaining to building permits can be emailed to [email protected] or answered by calling (707) 822-5956 or (707) 825-2128. Questions regarding encroachment permits and can be emailed to [email protected] or answered by phone at (707) 825-2128.

For all other questions related to City fees, please call the Finance Department at (707) 822-5951 and dial 1, then 2, to reach a live representative, or email [email protected]

  • Just looked up all the fees. I have no idea how the city is broke. Must spend more than they make

  • Not only that, they plan on boosting their water fees to astronomical numbers that rival the Bay Area. The increases in water will be something near 50-60% over the next three years, including the 33% they have done over the past 5 years. Your water bill has doubled in about eight years. This is in a county and city where we actually have water.

    Why not just add extra fees to those who use an abundance of water? Set a standard and I bet that water usage would go down.

    Arcata is also adding taxes to the ballots in November for certain services. How do they plan to get these things passed? They are already taxing the hell out of people in Arcata. The city council is aloof.
