After the Protest, a Local Painting Company Donates Time to Clean Up

With a weekend of back to back protests in Eureka, vandals had spray painted graffiti on a number of buildings including the Humboldt County Courthouse.
Porter and Sons Painting donated their labor and PPG Paints donated paint to clean up.

Local businesses like this are great hero’s in their own right, ovations for Mr Porter and his crew and a big thank you to PPG. Righting the wrongs of needless destruction on both public and private, restoring not destroying. This sends a positive message and I am glad to see the ugly side of humanity removed and brightened.

Anyone else wonder why Rex said the painting company called him to offer to paint and the painter said Rex “called him” at the painting company…
After the protests?? Like they have ended or something…… save your paint, you will need more
Rex probably called them, but was giving them credit for the initiative because it looked better for them that way.

The protesters could have volunteered for painting over graffiti and cleaning up broken glass but they didn’t. Maybe it should be a condition for permitting further protests.

I like the idea of some type of policy that before a protest, the protesters have to agree to clean up after themselves, broken glass, cover up graffiti, etc.
