Governor Newsom Statement on Demonstrations Across California and the Passing of Federal Officer

Press release from the Governor’s Office yesterday:

Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement [yesterday] on the demonstrations across California:

“Over the last few days, we have seen millions of people lift their voices in anger, rightfully outraged at how systemic racism is allowed to persist. Every single day, people of color are disadvantaged and discriminated against. Black and Latino men in particular face mortal danger all across this country simply because of their race. Every person who has raised their voice should be heard.

“I want to thank all those who helped protect human life last night and today – from community members who exercised their right to protest peacefully and encouraged others to do the same, to the law enforcement officers who faced what were, at times, challenging conditions.

“In California and across the country, there are indications that violent actors may be attempting to use these protests for their own agendas. We are closely monitoring organizing by violent extremist organizations…. To those who seek to exploit Californians’ pain to sow chaos and destruction, you are not welcome. Our state and nation must build from this moment united and more resolved than ever to address racism and its root causes.”

The Governor also issued a statement today on the passing of a federal officer in Oakland:

“This is a moment of pain for our state and nation. We are also mourning the tragic loss of a federal security officer and wounding of another in Oakland. Jennifer and I send our sincere condolences to their families, friends and colleagues. No one should rush to conflate this heinous act with the protests last night. A federal investigation is underway, and we should let that process play out.”

A grim lesson for all who desire to peacefully protest, there are those that want to turn your caring voices into anarchy. Don’t let them.

peace, love, coffee, I agree with your comment 100%. What has happened to our country after Mr. Floyd’s death just leaves me stunned. How a small protest over his killing can turn into a country wide act of violence, destruction, looting, shootings, etc., leaves me speech less!

That is what happens when you have groups of extremists backed by special interest groups and politicians with agendas. You have a large majority of our population that is rightfully outraged by these continued events. Within that major there are people that just want chaos, they are much like a dog chasing a car, they dont know why they want to catch it they just want to run it down…..

75% of those killed in the United Sates by police every year are…… wait for it….. wait……. white! Sorry thats racist. I mean European Americans. Fact. Actually only hundreds are killed a year by police. 228 last year. 31 were black.

In Federal Prisons, 58% percent of the inmates are white (the percentage in population is 60 to 74% depending whether Hispanic are included), 1.5% are Asian (general population is about 6.5%) and 38% are black (general percentage of population is 16%). https://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/statistics_inmate_race.jsp

Now to some this means black people suffer from prejudice in the justice system simply because such a disproportionate number are convicted. To others, this stat shows that black people commit more crimes. If black people are engaged in more crimes, then it is automatic that more will be killed in the interaction with police. But of course if it’s because black people are subject to bias, that would also make it more likely to be true.

The only clarity that lies in the statistics is that Asians are under represented and more of them need to be killed. Does that sound stupid? Well the whole argument over statistics is stupid. Behavior has consequences. Both the behavior of the criminal and the behavior of the police. And for that to be ignored out of anger and fear makes a shambles of assigning blame by statistics. It is stupidity to prevent understanding by making assumptions of where the fault lies because that is where the preference chooses.

I’m sure Kym, that you, like every other liberal, will do what you always do and ignore Guests statistics (or any other statistics) that don’t fit your bullshit narrative of the ever oppressed minority, hunted down because of the color of his skin. It’s like you all are impervious to facts. As you’ve been shown repeatedly, to no avail, blacks engage in violent crime in disproportionate numbers; hence they are killed more often per capita, both by cops and by each other. Yet, no matter how many times liberals are faced with those uncomfortable, undeniable FACTS they ignore them and repeat the lie that blacks are nothing more than victims of the white man. Congratulations liberals! It is exactly that narrative, that bullshit lie that has sown the seeds of division that have culminated in the nationwide shit show we are currently witnessing.

Tis true. And black on black crime (chicago, for example) is swept under the rug. Has anybody bothered to teach you in school the origjn of the kkk? The kkk was/is the enforcement wing of the democrat party? Robert Byrd was lauded by obama, pelosi, biden, etc. He was a grand kleigle in the kkk. They all loved him, appointed him to high positions in government. Most of these monuments being attacked were of democrats. Why erase history? Thats a communist/fascist tactic. Cant undo it. Will always be there. Why would you want to remove from view the horrors we dont want to repeat? The more terrible the act FOR SURE we dont want to go there again. And some of those democrats later went on to do good Why forget that? And you want to remove lincoln?!! The REPUBLICAN who freed the slaves! Maybe you want to keep it quiet it was the republicans who freed them. Democrats have tried to rewrite history. You willing to let them get away with that? Better lrotect the truth folks. Also margaret sanger that fascist democrat who started planned parenthood. Have you ever wondered why she did that? Was “to control the inferior races” Not my words BUT HERS! Thats why those slaughter houses are mostly in poor minority neighborhoods. Any of your lib teachers teach you that truth?! Better listen tk sources that are NKT abc, cbs, nbc, cnn, and their cable affiliates. Or Ophrah, or snl, or cobert, etc. Just a bunch of propagandists libs. Dig for truth, Research GOOD sources, not just my opinions i have formed from my journey for truth. Open your Bible, pray and ask God to show you His truth as well. Communists have taught you that only fools believe in God. Prove them wrong!

The “sudden” uprising of violence was waiting to happen. Bail money at the ready, well funded, stocked to create and all set for an incident to happen. BLM is rooted in Marxism, at least 2 of the founding members are avowed Marxists. They didnt care about him. They used him. What do Marxists want to do? OVERTHROW America. Add to their anarchy the other little communists, etc. And it is a recipe for lawlessness. This all had little to nothing to do with Mr. Floyd, but was an opportunistic crime and you all, should be ashamed using him like this to promote your ideology and fool gullible people into thinking they are a part of a protest, instead are rioters. And have you noticed an imbalance in the demographics here? Young white women, indoctrinated in socialism.

The Governor is once again wrong. Yes, there is some discrimination in our country. This doesn’t excuse for one minute the fact that many are taught hate from birth. This has happened for generations. As long as this doesn’t change, neither will the violence we see in these demonstrations.

I think KK is being compassionate and positive in her articles. She doesn’t use inflammatory words. Officials haven’t yet labeled this death to be murder, passing is the correct vocabulary.

If George Floyd was murdered, then murder seem like the least that could be said. In the further attempt to appease and temper the violence, Mr Newsome should immediately resign and let his female Lt. Governor, the daughter of an immigrant farm worker, assume his duties, thereby acting his rhetoric with action and reducing the unfair historical white privilege of paternalism. And when should he do it? Now! Lest the protesters conflate his words with his wants more directly.

//If George Floyd was murdered, //

Yeah, I’ve also read the details of the death of the man. The official investigation is ongoing. LEO didn’t say he was murdered, dimwits are spreading that narrative. LEO Coroner said no strangulation. He had some conditions that were life-threatening. We should wait for the cause of death to become known.

Did the LEO restraint contribute to his death? Yes

Just the toxicology report will clarify a lot.

Mr. Gass, Watch the videos. He was no threat. That cop snuffed him out on camera. Underlying conditions or not, George Floyd should have been handled with more care. White supremacist attitudes permeate the minneapolis PD. I know that first hand. Your callous attitude is embarrassing. Be better.

Demand REAL JUSTICE.
Denounce MOB JUSTICE.

sometimes things are not as they appear, and reality turns out much different than initially thought.

NO gov, you’re lying about the racism, you understand the trouble you’re supporting. Shame on you.

Which comes first, black skin OR constant conflict with established norms of society?

Society isn’t to blame. We’re equal under God.

When 4 blacks kill a white cop inside his own squad car, where’s the protestors?

Governor, your entire dialogue is racist, stop the stupidity.

It’s definitely different being black in this country. If you don’t realize that, you need to get out more. It’s simply the truth. Many whites live in a bubble, esp in rural America, and it’s hard to get through the noise and politics of it. But trust me, they live a very different experience. Newsflash: the Huxtabels were not a real family.

Infact, I have actively been trying to eliminate belief in general from my life entirely.

Science and the excitement of proving ourselves wrong

Science values the changing of minds through disproving previously held beliefs and challenging received authority with new evidence. This is in sharp contrast to faith (not just religious faith). Faith is far more natural and intuitive to the human brain than is science. Science requires training. It is a disciplined method that tries to systematically overcome or bypass our intuitions and cognitive biases and follow the evidence regardless of our prior beliefs, expectations, preferences or personal investment.

The increasing application of the scientific method in the last four centuries ushered in unprecedented, accelerating progress in humanity’s quest to understand the nature of reality and vast improvements in quality of life. Discovering just how mistaken we collectively were about so many things has been the key to sensational societal progress.5

Imagine if each of us as individuals could cultivate a scientific attitude of rigorous critical thinking and curiosity in our personal lives, and could experience an exhilarated feeling of discovery whenever we find we have been wrong about something important. Perhaps it’s time to stop talking admiringly about faith and belief as if these were virtues.

The root cause of racism is that the world is made up of different races of people. Accept that fact and address toleration of differences. We will always have differences among races. Not everyone in the world believes that we are all created equal, so address that fact and deal with it. Not everyone in the world believes in the Creation Theory, so address that fact and deal with it.

Evil is real and many people are evil, so address that fact and deal with it.

Be willing to become educated about racial differences and toleration of those differences.

And words do matter if we are going to be realistic about learning to live peacefully with our inherent racism. Protesters are protesters and do not injure other people or destroy the property of others. Rioters are rioters and injure and murder other people and destroy the property of others.

Ignorance is curable, stupid, not so much.

I love what you said. The only thing I could add would be that behind every hatred is an insecure fear of differences. Unless we learn to talk again, fearlessly and non-violently, evil will win the argument every time. Change of heart is a supernatural experience and is the only real long term solution.

The World is made up of different cultures not races as we are all one Human race that needs to learn more about humanity and accepting one another’s cultures than just tolerating those cultures and the differences within them – as tolerance just leads to more division and eventually more hatred once the tolerance ends due to a lack of understanding and acceptance of those differences.

Antifa scum. Brainwashing the youth. This ain’t justice. It’s Antifa using the youth to fuel civil unrest. Pallets of bricks pre places at riot sights. Videos of Antifa agent provacatours starting fires. Mob justice is never justice. We’ve seen this before. Remember cointelpro? That’s how they did it then that’s how they do it now. Kermit Roosevelt in Iran style. There is a textbook for this. The CIA wrote it.

Remember the riots from Rodney King…poor victim Rodney King….hight as a kite on Crack and PCP flying down the road like a mainiac in an 18 wheeler endangering everybody on the street…but of course the msm didn’t tell you that part till after you burned down your community

Sometimes people get beat for reasons other than racism. Assumption are the mother of all fuc$#ps

The name of the federal officer that was killed was David Patrick Underwood. He was a black man who was doing his job and killed on the job for no fault of his own. Law abiding citizen who was murdered most likely as a result of this whole ordeal despite how hard they are trying not to label it as such. But that doesn’t make good headlines now does it? I’m not pro police but that’s a hell of a double standard, black criminal gets killed, let’s riot, black officer gets killed page 13. It makes me embarrassed for everyone involved.

Bad police put good police into bad situations, inherently.

It’s more incentive to have good police, and good policing of police.

Accidents will happen in policing, undoubtedly.

But some have negligence or intent attached, and some of that is criminal by law.

Do we know that George Floyd was a criminal? He was questioned about a crime but I can’t find any real history on him at all. Whether It is because he had no criminal history or the media simply refuses to cover it, I do not know but I would not call him a criminal until some evidence of that is presented.

Of course I also would not call the cop a murderer either until at least some history of the arrest itself is reported.

Yeah whatever, Gavin Newsom – Keep pretending that this is about George Floyd and Police Brutality. The chaos is from months of built-up frustration and uncertainty. People are pissed and want to go out on the weekend!

Protesting the shutdown wasn’t “woke”, but one asshole and his loser co-workers on the Minneapolis PD have been deemed a worthy cause to rally against.

I support free speech and freedom of assembly, but this energy could have been channeled elsewhere. Mayve time to accelerate re-opening, eh?

Since there seems to be a bit of ignorance about protesting, I went back to my teaching roots and looked it up in the dictionary.
Noun: a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something. An organized public demonstration expressing strong objection to an official policy or course of action.
Verb: express an objection to what someone has said or done. Declare firmly and emphatically in the face of stated or implied doubt or in response to an accusation.

And I also looked up terrorism.
Noun: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial or environmental nature.

There you have it. If you hold signs, shout, cause a nonviolent scene, etc. you are exercising protesting. If you cross the line by using intimidation such as blocking roads or sidewalks, commit crimes of vandalism or personal violence you are committing an act of domestic terrorism. This is straight from both the dictionary and the FBI. So, thus verifies exactly what I have been saying all along, not just from the dictionary and FBI but from my anti-terrorism training.

90% of black Americans are killed by other black Americans. Black Americans kill almost three times more white Americans each year than white Americans that kill black Americans, yet black Americans make up 45% less of the population of America. If these numbers were reversed I could understand these riots…
