Redway Fire Department BBQ: All Sold Out

The Annual Redway Fire Department BBQ fundraiser has sold out! Chief Brian Anderson tells us that the department was worried about how popular the drive up BBQ would be and so they purchased only half the meat they normally would. And they sold out before 3 p.m.!

Chief Brian Anderson wanted us to let everyone know that they are very appreciative of the community’s support. “Thank everyone who came out to support us and those that didn’t get to us this time, we’ll see you next year!”

Willie, I am not an official spokesman for the fire department. However, I can tell you from having been a Redway firefighter for many, many years, and having been at all the Barbeques, the community support and appreciation that they receive is far more important than any profit.

When the fire department agonized over whether it could be done or not, it was decided that they owed it to the community to go on with it. We were afraid that we would not have as many customers due to the covid-19 crisis as we ended up having.

We sadly under-estimated our potential. Hopefully next year we will be back to “normal”. Whatever that might be.

Ernie,
Seemed like a big hit when we went through. Very streamlined and it seems like it was just what the community needed after such limited dining out choices. A win win for everyone.
We are grateful and appreciative for all you all have done and for the rest of the retired guys, too.
The way things are going with all the other events canceled you guys might consider throwing another BBQ or two this summer.
I bet you would do very well.

Any ways, thanks again to Redway Fire,
Brian, Ernie, and everyone else that has helped out over the years, and a big shout out to Bill Wells this year just because I haven’t forgotten how much you helped out and all the time you put in.

Thanks Ex.
If anything can be made to happen smoothly, firefighters can make it happen. The pre-packaged meals went about three times faster than normal.

We like the line where people get to make their own choices better, but some things just can’t happen.

I’ve worked with some great Fire chiefs:
Sid Weldon, Al Lindsley, Bill wells, Ed Brady, and Brian Anderson. All had different approaches, and all did a good job.

The new Measure Z funding has freed up some money and has made great improvements in rural fire departments. With California’s growing fire hazards good fire departments are going to be needed.
