EPD Warns Residents to ‘Stay Vigilant and Secure’

Eureka Police Department EPDPress release from the Eureka Police Department:

The Eureka Police Department would like to remind residents to stay vigilant and secure their homes and vehicles during the day and night. Recently, a female woke up to an unknown man in her home. He fled out the front door without further incident when she woke up. The man has not been identified and his motives are not known.

Follow these safety and security tips at night:

  • Lock all doors (front, rear, side, garage, etc.)

  • Lock all windows (use wooden dowels for additional security)

  • If you have an alarm, arm your home

  • If you have security cameras, make sure they are working

  • Keep your home well lit and visible

  • Lock your vehicle doors and windows and don’t leave anything in your car (including remote garage door openers)

  • Call the police if you hear or see anything suspicious

It is a Holiday weekend and the summer months are ahead of us. If you plan to leave your home (keep in mind Shelter in Place orders) follow these tips:

  • Follow the above general safety tips

  • Hire a house sitter or have a neighbor or friend check on your home and collect mail and newspaper

These types of crimes are a high priority and the Eureka Police Department is working diligently to investigate. Investigation teams are working to identity suspect(s) and patrol teams are doing burglary patrols in residential areas as calls allow.

I would suggest a legally owned firearm would be more than helpful the next time this creep comes into some ones home. Buy it, and most of all LEARN how to use the weapon in a moments notice. A training course is an excellent tool, normal taught by experts.

This is what happens when Citizens are treated like criminals and criminals are treated like victims. My advice, get a good dog and a better gun.

It’s definitely good to have a firearm and have the training to use it for self defense. Also, it is important to have the common sense to lock the doors and windows in your home. This way the lazier thief will go away without entering. Only the harder criminals want to actually break and enter.

More importantly it would be nice to keep criminals incarcerated.

Has crime increased since covid?

Does it have to do with the 100 people let out of jail?

One of the major advantages of living in an rv is that home security is pretty easy to maintain. Only one easy exit in and out, and if anyone was to even try to mess with the door or come in a window Either myself or my dogs would hear them instantly. Then from there its bear spray unloaded on their faceholes.

Also lock bedroom doors for better interior security. Firearms should have flashlights attached.

Wow if you have to lock your bedroom door to sleep, I’d be moving the hell outta whatever sheephole town you live in. That’s just not a healthy Way to live in my eyes.

No shit. Find a different place to live immediately if you feel the need to lock your BEDROOM door. Moving is much easier than going to prison for killing one of your housemates who apparently has been sneaking into Guest’s bedroom late at night to do unspeakable, unwanted, disgusting Trumpian perverted acts of some kind. Sexual assault is not OK, Guest. Call the cops on whoever is hurting you. Donald Dump is a sick pig.

It takes 30 seconds to stab ,kill and run away.Takes once on the 911 system up to 20 minutes for the first Police officer to arrive. Take a “Certified” gun safety course for the WHOLE family. Find a Certified {Not Rambo Not wannabe trainer dressed in tactical garments } Tactical course. Be aware of your surroundings .Get your C.C.W and learn the laws in your state.Find a very good Lawyer will need one.

Also get CCW insurance. I pay quite a bit a year, but worth every dime if I have to smoke some fool who wants to try his luck with my family’s safety or my “castle” and it’s belongings. [edit]
