County Gives Tips for ‘Recognizing Memorial Day Under Shelter-in-Place’

This is a press release from the County of Humboldt:

Memorial Day plans will be different this year, but there are still many ways to recognize the holiday while following shelter-in-place guidelines.

The Memorial Day holiday is a time to remember and honor those military service members who died in service of the United States. Humboldt County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Director and Army Veteran Ryan Derby said, “This is an important time to reflect on the men and women who gave their lives to defend the rights of all Americans.”

While many traditional ceremonies have been modified or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, below is a list of virtual, televised or individual events:

The upcoming weekend is also a time when family and friends come together in celebration. Here are a few ways to enjoy the weekend while maintaining social distancing and other safety measures.

If there are items you need, please remember to support local EOC-Certified retail businesses. Visit humboldtgov.org/2770 to see the list. Additional businesses are added daily, so please call ahead to see if your favorite retailers are open.

When recognizing the holiday, maintain six feet of distance at all times from anyone but members of your own household, and make sure personal hygiene supplies are on hand when leaving your home. Facial coverings continue to be required, and rules against non-essential travel remain in place. Lodging for those outside of Humboldt County is not allowed and will not be available except to those traveling for essential purposes.

The most up-to-date list of EOC-Certified businesses can be found on the Humboldt County website here: humboldtgov.org/2770.

  • What a monstrous absurdity. The governor, local bureaucrats, law enforcement, supervisors and city council members will go down in history as shills for the Medical Industrial Complex and Big Pharma. Recognizing and initiating herd immunity would have saved the economy. How many citizens have to lose their jobs, commit suicide, go bankrupt or end up on the streets because of the stupidity, short-sightedness and paranoia of these fools for America to wake up to this mass hysteria hoax?

Wicked, shameful governors, political hacks and petty dictators with designer masks. This is the darkest hour in our nation’s history. Patriots need to rise against this techno-tyranny. The tyrants need to GO.

May God have mercy on their corrupt souls. He won’t.

  • Hey “County,”

    YOU SUCK

    Sincerely,

    Everyone Else in the County
